When the indian IT industry started booming somewhere in late 90's, there were four major players grabbing all the headlines. And they were TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Satyam. While the other three continued their ascent, Satyam lost its way somewhere and got booted out of the top bracket. After a long soul search Satyam management have finally found the reasons for this, ah wait not reasons actually their is a 'single' reason for that and that is the 'unprofessional' behaviour of the female empoyees.
According to the HR chief of Satyam, once women reach the age of 30-35 they become complacent and dont want to forge ahead. This shows the lack of dedication to the company, when all employees are expected to work for 14 hrs a day, these women folk leaving early for home create an unhealthy atmosphere in the company. What if all the males also start showing interest in their family life?? Just imagine the impact on the industry which is totally based on the concept of labor cost arbitrage.
Another interesting point found in this study is that single women especially the divorced ones have been responsible for slow growth of satym. Mr. Murthy thinks that single or divorced women is an concept alien to Indian culture and having these women in more visible position, affects the values and culture of Indian companies. As seeing these symbols of western civilization in power might encourage others to embrace it and start demanding blasphemous things like 40 hour weeks, yearly vacations, overtime etc. That will be the end of road for us.

Not putting 14-15 work hours is a problem? I think then this whole industry is in a great problem. I sure feel whatever gender should not put more than 9 hours at office and add value to the company.
And I also don't agree to divorced or single women not blending in culture. What kind of analysis is this? The very first point it ignores is that office life is not personal life. So what you are at your home has to be left at home and should not affect or be considered for your professional career. Why someone at office has to accept you as divorcee, married, single etc? You do your work, everyone else does their work.
thats was the whole point of writing this whole thing up. I was surprised HR head of some reputed company saying things like this on record.
Satyam's HR is the worst thing ever. They have high levels of chronyism and have only hired a few competent peopel AFAIK
Oh yes, these comments by the Satyam HR made me hopping mad.
